By CATIE AKERS – Almost everyone in the eighth grade took the first round of the GeoBee. Only a few of us had enough knowledge to continue to advance. One of the students who possessed great knowledge of geography, including that of other countries and continents, is J’Raud Scott.
J’Raud spent time preparing, which is more than many of us did. Even though he studied he confessed that the questions were challenging. Which made winning the school level of the Bee more fulfilling. J’Raud said,“I felt good about winning, but I was surprised.” J’Raud was surprised that he won because of those he was up against. After the first elimination round he was unsure of his chances.
The questions will continue to get more challenging as the rounds progress. J’Raud will continue on to the state level, and hopefully further. Maybe J’Raud can be the first student from Pennsylvania to win the national bee.
